4. Part names and functions

Here we explain the part names and functions of the network interface unit.

RUN LED

ERROR LED

RJ45 modular jack

Link/activity LED

ERR0R LED

This LED indicates the EtherCAT communication error.

LED status

Explanation

OFF

No error occurs (or power is OFF)

Red flashing

Invalid settings

It is disabled to change the status to that sent by the master device as the setting or the register /
object is invalid.

Red flashing twice

Application watchdog timeout

The sync manager watchdog has timed out.

Red lit*

Application controller malfunction

The module is in the “EXCEPTION” status.

RUN LED

This LED indicates the status of the CoE (CANopen over EtherCAT) communication.

LED status

Explanation

OFF

CoE is in the "INIT" status (or power is OFF).

Green lit

CoE is in the "OPERATIONAL" status.

Green flashing

CoE is in the "PRE-OPERATIONAL" status.

Green flashing once

CoE is in the "SAFE-OPERATIONAL" status.

Red lit*

Crucial situation

*: When the either of LED is lit in red, something critical is happening.

The bus interface becomes physically passive in this case.

Link/activity LED: Port 1 / Port 2

This LED indicates the link status and activity of EtherCAT.

A link is not established, and communication is not occurring.

Green lit

An Ethernet link is established, but communication is not occurring.

Green flashing

An Ethernet link is established, and communication is occurring.
