FRONT FORK

CHAS

INSTALLING THE FRONT FORK LEGS

The following procedure applies to both of the
front fork legs.
1. Install:

• Front fork leg

Temporarily tighten the upper and lower
bracket pinch bolts.

2. Tighten:

• Cap bolt

• Lower bracket pinch bolt

• Upper bracket pinch bolt

• Handlebar pinch bolt

WARNING

EWA20690

Make sure the brake hose, clutch cable, and
leads are routed properly.

3. Check:

• Check front fork operation

Refer to “CHECKING THE FRONT FORK”
on page 3-24.

DISASSEMBLING THE FRONT FORK LEG
(RIGHT)

1. Remove:

• Cap bolt with O-ring

(from outer tube)

2. Remove:

• Cap bolt with O-ring “1”

(from damper rod assembly)
a. Remove cap bolt “1” by holding the special

nut with front fork damper rod locknut
holder YSST-778 “2”.

3. Drain:

• Fork oil

TIP

Stroke the damper rod “1” several times while
draining the fork oil.

4. Remove:

• Dust seal “1”
• Oil seal clip “2”

(with a flat-head screwdriver)

NOTICE

Do not scratch the inner tube.

23 N·m (2.3 kgf·m, 17 lb·ft)

Lower bracket pinch bolt

30 N·m (3.0 kgf·m, 22 lb·ft)

Upper bracket pinch bolt

21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft)

Handlebar pinch bolt

21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft)
