Tempo Changes
Place the cursor in the center of the
measure/beat at which you want the tempo
change to begin, then use the [
−
1] key to
enter a “rit” (tempo decrease) value or the
[+1] key to enter an “accel” (tempo in-
crease) value. The amount of tempo
change is specified in beats per minute, so
if the starting tempo is 120 and you enter
an “accel” value of 10, the tempo will in-
crease by 10 beats per minute to 130. The
only limitation is that you can’t enter
tempo changes that result in a tempo
slower than 30 or higher than 250.

Number of beats over which
tempo change occurs.
To enter gradual accelerando or ritardando changes, first set the
amount of “accel” or “rit” change required, as described above, then
move the cursor to the lower number and use the [
−
1] and [+1] keys
to enter the number of beats over which you want the tempo change
to occur. In the sample display to the left, the tempo will increase by
12 over two beats (the wiggly arrow extends for the specified number
of beats).
