Using the Song Lesson Feat u re
You can use the selected Son g for a left-hand, ri g ht-hand, or both-hands lesson.
Try practicin g with these three Son g Lesson types while referrin g to the music scores in
the Son g Book (pa g e 11).
Lesson 1—Listen and Learn
In this Lesson, yo u need not play the key b oard. The
model melody/chords of the part yo u selected w ill
so u nd. Listen to it caref u lly and remem b er it w ell.
Lesson 2—Timin g
In this mode, simply concentrate on playing the notes
w ith the correct timing. E v en if yo u play w rong notes,
the correct notes sho w n in the display w ill so u nd.
Lesson 3—Waitin g
In this Lesson, try playing the correct notes sho w n on
the display. The Song pa u ses u ntil yo u play the right
note, and play b ack tempo w ill change to match the
speed at w hich yo u are playing.

Turn off the part you want to practice.
For the right-hand lesson, press the [1/RIGHT]
bu tton to t u rn off the right-hand part. For the left-
hand lesson, press the [2/LEFT] bu tton to t u rn off
the left-hand part. For a lesson u sing b oth hands,
t u rn off b oth a parts.
Pressing the [1/RIGHT] and [2/LEFT] bu ttons
repeatedly w ill toggle the on/off stat u s of each
part, w hich can b e sho w n on the display.

After starting play b ack, pressing the [LESSON]
bu tton repeatedly w ill change the Lesson n u m b er

Three Types of Song Lesson
• If you want to make sure a steady playback tempo is
maintained during Lesson 3: Waiting, set the Your Tempo
parameter (page 69) to OFF.
• When using Quick Sampling (page 32) or with a specific
effect sound (Instrument number 802 [Smpl Vce]), Sam-
ple Zones B to E do not play the assigned samples cor-
rectly while “Lesson 2:Timing” or “Lesson 3:Waiting” is
being used.

Practicing with Song Lesson
• The Song Lesson can be applied also to the Songs (SMF
format 0 only) transferred from a computer (page 26), but
cannot be applied to the User Songs.
• Song numbers 022–041 only support the right-hand les-
son.
