GM System Level 1
“GM System Le v el 1” is an addition to the MIDI standard w hich ens u res that any GM-com-
pati b le m u sic data can b e acc u rately played b y any GM-compati b le tone generator,
regardless of man u fact u rer. The GM mark is affixed to all soft w are and hard w are prod u cts
that s u pport GM System Le v el.
XGlite
As its name implies, “XGlite” is a simplified v ersion of Yamaha’s high-q u ality XG tone gen-
eration format. Nat u rally, yo u can play b ack any XG song data u sing an XGlite tone gener-
ator. Ho w e v er, keep in mind that some songs may play b ack differently compared to the
original data, d u e to the red u ced set of control parameters and effects.
USB
USB is an a bb re v iation for Uni v ersal Serial B u s. It is a serial interface for connecting a
comp u ter w ith peripheral De v ices. It allo w s “hot s w apping” (connecting peripheral de v ices
w hile the po w er to the comp u ter is on).
STYLE FILE FORMAT (SFF)
The Style File Format is Yamaha’s original style file format w hich u ses a u niq u e con v er-
sion system to pro v ide high-q u ality a u tomatic accompaniment b ased on a w ide range of
chord types.
