Assembling the fuel pump

NOTE:

Clean the parts and soak the valves and the
diaphragms in gasoline before assembly.

Install the plunger

and diaphragm into

fuel pump body 1

, and then install the

to the plunger.

NOTE:

• Align the pin installation holes

with the

slot in fuel pump body 1

, and then install

the pin

while pushing the plunger

and

diaphragm completely inward.

• Turn fuel pump body 1

until the pin

90° from the slot in the body.

• Make sure that the projection

on the dia-

phragm is toward the port side.

Assemble the fuel pump as shown.

NOTE:

• Moisten the inside of the fuel pump with

gasoline to ensure a good seal.

• Make sure that the diaphragms are kept in

place through the assembly process.

• After disassembling and assembling the

fuel pump, check it for air leaks. See
“Checking the fuel pump” (4-4).
