Oil filler cap

7. Check:

Engine oil level
Refer to ”Engine oil level”.

NOTE:

Run the engine for several minutes, turn it
off, and check the engine oil level.

If the engine oil is still not at the proper
level, add/drain as needed.

Timing belt

1. Inspect:

Timing belt
Wear/damage

Replace.

2. Check:

Timing belt slack

(Push the timing belt with your finger.)

Out of specification

→

Replace.

Timing belt slack

0 ~ 10 mm (0~0.4 in)

Valve clearance
NOTE:

Valve clearance adjustment should be made
on a cold engine, at room temperature.

1. Remove:

Top cowling

Flywheel cover (EH/E models)

Manual starter (MH models)

Driven sprocket cover

Spark plug

2. Disconnect:

Fuel hoses

3. Remove:

Cylinder head cover
