Recheck t h e L S B adjustment , a s well a s the
carrier balance adjustment , after performing
the carrier point alignment . The background
noise , when swit ching between USB an d LSB,
should not change .

Carrier Balance
1 .
Tune up the transceiver on
20
meters, USB
mode , into a dummy load . Set the main
tuning dial to
1 4 . 2 5 0
MHz . Connect the RF
probe of the VTVM to the antenna j ack .
Disconnect all microphones, etc. , from the
microphone jack.
2 .
Activate the transmitter b y placing the VOX
GAIN control into the M OX position. Adjust
VR501 and TC502 for a minimum VTVM
reading.

If a VTVM is unavailable , use an external

monitor re ceiver, tuned t o the transm itter
frequency , and adjust V R 5 0 1 and TC502 for a
minimum S-meter reading on the e xternal
receiver.

This adjustment should b e repeated several
times on LSB and USB, in order to ensure
complete carrier nulling .

CW Carrier Point
1 .
Connect a frequency counter to TP402 , locat
e d on the IF UNIT . Place the MODE swit ch
in the TUNE position.
2 .
Adjust TC505 for a frequen cy counter reading
of exactly 8 9 8 8 . 3 kHz.
3 .
When using the optional CW filter, a sub
stantial loss on transmit , when in the CW-N
position, may indicate the need for adjust
ment as indicated in steps
