Redeploying an Ai1
When redeploying an Ai1, it is best to give the unit a thorough evaluation and test to ensure everything is still
functional. The following aspects should be reviewed:
•
Check the condition of all seals and make sure everything is still waterproof and sufficiently tightened. Seals may
become loose as they age so confirm elasticity and tightness is still adequate
•
Check the desiccant and most likely replace. The desiccant can be recharged in an oven at 105°C for three or
four hours. Refer to section 4.1.5 under Humidity for steps to check the state of the desiccant
•
Check the internal battery voltage. If the Ai1 has accidentally been left on, or small power has been used while
in storage, it is possible that the battery is discharged. Try recharging and test extensively to ensure the full
battery capacity is still available. It may need replacement if the capacity is reduced
•
Check the communications is still active. It is possible that the SIM has expired, been cancelled, out of contract
or out of credit and is no longer active. It is also possible that the station has been archived in Eagle.io. Check
the system is still active through to the data destination
Connect sensors and confirm the sensors are configured correctly and connections are reliable. It is recommended
to run this step for at least 24 hours and to thoroughly review the data. It may be required to update the operating
system or make program revisions at this stage.
If an Ai1 is to be used on another project it is best to clear historic data before redeploying, especially if a new
station is configured in Eagle.io. If not, Eagle.io will try and download all historic data for the new location, but that
will be a lot of historic data from the old station and likely to cause excessive communications cost or lock the station
