Compatibility
XPAND YOUniversal 3D glasses are compatible with all major brands of 3D LCD TVs, 3D
DLP TVs and 3D Plasma TVs that use IR synchronisation with 3D eyewear (glasses won’t
work with TVs, laptops and projectors that use RF for 3D sync signal or passive displays).
For YOUniversal 3D Glasses to work with TVs that use radio frequency for 3D sync signal,
XPAND’s RF Dongle (radio frequency extension) is necessary. It is available as extra
accessory.
Additionally XPAND equipped cinemas and some 3D capable personal computers are
supported as well.

Functionality
Glasses Overview

Turning On/Off Your Glasses
• Step 1 ON: Press button (1) once
• Step 2 “X” LED light (3) will ramp from off to bright
• Step 3 OFF: Press button (1) once
• Step 4 “X” LED light (3) will ramp from bright to off
Glasses also automatically turn off if no valid sync is detected for 5 minutes.
Set Glasses To Operate With Your Device
• Step 1 XPAND YOUniversal 3D glasses support an automatic IR protocol detection. To
start the auto detect process, press and hold the button (1) for 3 seconds.
• Step 2 »X« LED (3) will blink until auto detection is completed. Procedure may take up to
one minute.
• Step 3 If auto detection was completed successfully, sit back and enjoy your program. The
glasses will store detected IR protocol in memory and will always start up in this mode the
next time you turn the glasses on.
Select Device Manually
• Step 1 Press and hold the button (1) for 3 seconds. Glasses will enter auto detect mode.
• Step 2 Press and hold the button (1) for 6 seconds.
• Step 3 “X” LED light (3) will blink once, corresponding to a Samsung TV (See supported
IR protocol codes below).
• Step 4 Press button once to step through the other device options until you get to desired
IR protocol.
• Step 5 If you have selected the correct IR protocol then sit back and enjoy your program.
Within 30 seconds the glasses will exit the programming mode and store your selection in
memory. The glasses will always start up in this mode the next time you turn the glasses
on.

* LG 2011 TV models are not supported, whereas Samsung 2011 TV models require XPAND RF

Set Glasses for use in XPAND Equipped Cinemas
Simply turn the glasses on and XPAND Cinema mode will be entered automatically.
Indicating Battery State
If red battery LED (2) flashes every couple of seconds, battery level is low. LED indicates low
battery state only when glasses are turned on.
Charging is indicated with orange battery LED (2) flashing every second.
When battery is fully charged, battery LED (2) turns green.
Charging the Battery
To
charge
glasses, plug the multifunction port to USB cable to multifunction port on one
side and in computer or other USB device capable of supplying power (wall charger) on
the other. Orange battery LED (2) will flash while charging. When battery is fully charged,
battery LED (2) is illuminated green until power supply is removed from the glasses.
Please make sure the battery is fully charged before first use of the glasses.
Connecting Glasses to a PC
By connecting glasses to a PC and using the XPAND PC application, one can easily change
desired IR protocol, custom set shutters timings and upgrade glasses firmware. To access
these settings, XPAND PC application has to be installed on the PC. The app can be
downloaded from www.xpand.me/youniversal/.
To select desired IR protocol
, connect multifunction port to USB cable to the
glasses and PC. Run XPAND PC application. Select protocol from drop down menu. Unplug
multifunction port to USB cable from the glasses. The glasses are now set.
To change advanced shutter timings
, click on “Show advanced options”. In
XPAND PC application click and drag two slides corresponding to “open delay” and “close
delay” and set desired timings. To discard any changes made click “Reset to default”
button. Advanced option menu is closed with click on “Hide advanced options”.
To upgrade firmware
on the glasses turn glasses on and plug multifunction port to
USB cable to the PC and on the other end to the glasses. Launch the XPAND PC application
and click on the “Application update available” or “check for update” button. Ensure that
the PC is connected to the Internet. The glasses will be updated from server automatically
on confirming that you want to update glasses with newest firmware. If you want to update
from file, click “No” in the “Download firmware” dialog box and then choose the desired file.
Update takes some time. When the operation is complete, a dialog box confirms successful
update. Do not unplug multifunction port to USB cable during update process!
