Prepare to set up the EX/i Print Server
To prepare for printing at your site, you must do some initial EX/i Print Server configuration
(or “Setup”) to specify the network environment and the types of printing you do. Before you
perform Setup, decide the levels of access to implement, such as passwords and other security
features that the EX/i Print Server offers. Because many of these security features are
interconnected, review the information to plan for an effective security system, and then
perform Setup accordingly.
Ethernet connection
For Ethernet connections, the EX/i Print Server supports Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
cabling for these network speeds:
• 10BaseT: Category 3 or later
• 100BaseTX: Category 5 or later (4-pair/8-wire, short-length)
• 1000BaseT: Category 5e or later (4-pair/8-wire, short-length)
