RAP 3.5: Paper Path Sensor
If media feeds through the printer
without stopping to print, it is most likely
a bad paper path sensor.
1. Remove the paper cassette.
2. Check the paper path sensor for any
obstruction or damage. Use a small
screwdriver to push in on the sensor
to make sure it operates freely.
Result: Sensor appears to perate
freely?
No:
Replace the paper path sensor
assembly (REP 2.1.3: Paper Path
Sensor on page 4-6).
Yes:
Go to step 3.
3. Check the connection at J3 on the
printer interface PWB.
Result: Harness and connection appear to be OK?
No:
Reconnect the sensor to J3. If the harness
appears bad, replace the sensor assembly
(REP 2.1.3: Paper Path Sensor on page 4-6).
Yes:
Replace the sensor assembly
(REP 2.1.3: Paper Path Sensor on page 4-6).
If this does not solve the problem, replace the printer
(REP 2.1.18: Printer Assembly on page 4-24).
If that does not solve the problem, replace the main
circuit board (REP 5.1.2: Main Board on page 4-39).
