2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Never operate the pump near gasoline or gaseous fuel because of the potential
danger of explosion or fire.
Never fill up the fuel tank with petrol while the engine is running. Do not smoke
or use a naked flame near the petrol tank. Be careful not to spill petrol when
refueling. If petrol is spilled, wipe it off and let dry before starting the engine.
Never store flammable substances near the pump. There must be no petrol,
matches, explosive powder, clothes moistened with oil, straw, wastes or any
flammable products near the pump.
NEVER spray on flammable liquids.
EMPTY the tank and CLOSE the fuel cock to transport and repair the pump.
NEVER store near ovens, wood-burners, water heaters, dryers, or any other
equipments that may have a pilot light or any source that can possibly emit
flammable fuel vapours.
Liquid fuels of fuel vapours are extremely flammable and explosive products. A
fire or an explosion can cause serious injuries or even the death.
When operated, the engine produces carbon monoxide, which is an odourless,
colourless and fatal gas. Some chemicals or detergents can be hazardous in
case they are inhaled or swallowed and cause serious nausea, faint or poisoning.
Breathing carbon monoxide can cause nausea, faint or even the death.
ALWAYS use the pump ONLY outdoors. In case a risk of inhaling vapours
arises, use a respiratory device. When wearing a mask, always carefully read
the use instructions to make sure the protection against inhalation of hazardous
vapours is efficient.
Always use the pump on a flat and horizontal floor. You do not have to build a
special supporting place for the pump. However, on an irregular floor, the pump
will be subjected to vibrations, so always select a flat floor without any surface
ondulations. If the pump is tilted or if it is moved when it is operated, the petrol
can be spilled out, thus leading to a hazardous situation. If the slope is over 20°,
the engine of the pump can be poorly lubricated and this can create a blockage
of the piston even if the oil level is very high.
When operated, the engine of the pump is extremely hot, and remains very hot
for quite a long time. Always keep flammable materials away from the pump.
Keep your hands and your body away from hot parts of the engine, particularly
the muffler, because of the risk of serious injuries. Let the pump cool down prior
to starting any intervention on it. The temperature of the pump rapidly increases
and remains high a long time after the pump has stopped. Keep your hands
away because of the risk of burn.
