8.4 Reverse touch pad (10) (See Fig. D1, D2)
To remove screws or release a jammed drill bit, depress the reverse
touch pad (10) to start drilling in reverse mode. Remove pressure
from the reverse touch pad (10) to stop the drill.
WARNING: Do not operate for long periods at low speed
as excess heat will be produced internally in the motor.
8.5 Variable speed
CAUTION:
The variable speed control function is NOT intended
to be used for long periods of time during the operation of the
task being performed. Use the variable speed to start drilling and
screwing tasks, and then fully press the switch once the task has
started.
• The forward and reverse touch pads (10/11) enable the user to
adjust the speed of the drill / driver effortlessly. The speed varies
according to the amount of pressure applied to the touch pad area
in either forward or reverse modes. The higher the pressure applied,
the higher the speed of the drill / driver.
• To stop the drill / driver, release finger from the forward or reverse
touch pad (10/11) areas and allow the chuck to come to a complete
stop. The electric brake quickly stops the chuck from rotating. This
feature engages automatically when fingers are released from
either the forward or reverse touch pads (10/11).
