BRANDON THREE HEADED POST LANTERN INSTALLATION
Please read these instructions carefully prior to installation and retain them for future reference.
If in doubt, we recommend you consult a qualified electrician.
FUSE VALUE
This fitting can be connected to a lighting circuit protected by a 5A fuse or 6A residual current device; alternatively it can be connected to a ring
main by means of a fused connection fitted with a BS 1362 3A fuse. This product is only suitable for connection to 220 / 240V, 50 Hz supply and in
accordance with Local Wiring and Building regulations. For domestic use only.
The correct cable must be used for wiring this fitting. We suggest that you use H05RN-F specification cable, which is an outdoor rubber sheathed
cable and may be protected by running in plastic conduit. Alternatively if the cable will be in an area where it could become damaged, you should
use special armoured cable, which protects against such damage. The cable used must have a minimum cross sectional area of 1.0mm².
BEFORE COMMENCING INSTALLATION ENSURE THE POWER SUPPLY IS SWITCHED OFF AT THE FUSE BOX AND FUSE IS REMOVED TO PREVENT
ACCIDENTAL SWITCHING

DUE TO THE WEIGHT AND CUMBERSOME NATURE OF THIS PRODUCT WE RECOMMEND THAT THE ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION OF THE LIGHT
FITTING BE CARRIED OUT BY TWO PEOPLE.
FIXING INSTRUCTIONS
1.

Decide upon the location of the lamp and establish a firm LEVEL base using the Root Cage. Screw the three hook bolts
into the triangular setting bar so that the threaded portion protrudes through by approx. 30mm. A concrete base is recommended with a
suggested size of 600mm x 600mm x 210mm thick, setting the hook bolt arrangement in the concrete as it is being laid. Provide a path for
the supply cable to the centre of the base; see notes on cabling requirements above.

ENSURE THE SUPPLY CABLE IS IN PLACE BEFORE FILLING WITH CONCRETE

Alternatively if required, the lamp may be sited and fixed onto an existing patio area by using ‘loose bolts’ (not supplied). Use the base to
mark the required drilling positions.
ASSEMBLY & WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Please see Diagram 01 to familiarise yourself with the construction on the light fitting
Lantern Wiring and Post Section assembly.
1.
Dis-assemble the Top Finial from the Lantern support bracket, by loosening the three Allen bolts.
2.
Connect the supply cable to the terminal block, into the marked positions.
3.
Pass the cable down through the: Lantern Support bracket, Upper Post (Ensure that the hole in the Upper Post is at the bottom of the post.)
4.
To aid you inserting the cable through the sections, tape the end of the cable around a stick and feed through.
5.
You now need to wire each lantern head.
On each head pass the supply cable and Earth wire through the rubber grommet, bring the cable up
through the top of the section and connect into the terminal block.
6.
Ensure that Live (Brown) is opposite L, Neutral (Blue) is opposite N and Earth (Yellow & Green) is opposite Earth
.
7.
Fasten each head onto the Support bracket by using the small threaded rod sections and dome headed nuts. Be careful not to trap the cables.
8.
Push the top finial back into position and tighten the three Allen bolts.
9.
Connect the post sections together and tighten the corresponding Allen Bolts.
Bulb Installation
1.
Insert the recommended bulbs: 3 x Max 60watt GLS ES or Equivalent Energy Saving CFL or LED bulb.
2.
Remove the finial from inside the lantern lid and replace the correct way up.
3.
Attach the lantern lid to the lantern body and insert the two retaining screws.
Mains Supply Connection
Ensure the incoming supply cable is suitable. (See notes at the beginning of the instruction)
This fitting MUST be earthed. Ensure that all incoming Earth leads are connected to the terminal marked with the earth symbol. This is to
preserve earth continuity throughout your property.
1.
Connect the cable from the lantern heads into the terminal block on the Root Cage. The Earth cable must be connected into the connection
with the Earth tag.
2.
Connect the incoming Mains supply into the opposite connection. Ensure that incoming Live Supply is opposite L, Neutral Supply is opposite
N and Earth Supply is opposite Earth
.
3.
Fasten the Terminal block bracket to the Root Cage.
4.
Connect the Earth tag to the inside of the Post Base.
5.
Apply a few layers of good quality insulation tape over the bracket and terminal block.
