PAPR Care and Maintenance
When used in Contaminated Areas
•
The cleaning and the maintenance of the Airkos PAPR must be done in a contaminant-free
area.
•
Please ensure protective gloves and protective eyewear are worn and avoid touching your
face whilst performing care and maintenance.
•
The main filter and the prefilter should never be cleaned, but only replaced for new ones.
•
The blower unit, filter housing and head unit must all be cleaned after every use to reduce
the risk of them holding any contaminates.
1 - Cleaning the Visor Head Unit
•
The visor is fully hand washable. It should be cleaned both on the inside and outside. The
visor can be cleaned using hospital disinfectant used to clean equipment and surfaces such
as BioGuard
®
, Incidin
®
, Clinell
®
or similar.
•
Note: the visor can be fully submerged if there is sufficient time for drying in between uses
(this would be the efficient way of cleaning the visor ensuring the delivery airduct is cleaned
both inside and out).
•
Alternatively, disinfectant wipes and a damp cloth soaked in disinfectant can be used, and
spray disinfectant for the face seal.
•
Visors can now be left to air dry in a place free from risk of contaminates.
•
The visor must not be reused until completely dry.
2 - Cleaning the Hose and the Hose Cover
•
The hose with its two bayonet fittings and the flame-retardant hose cover can be cleaned
using hospital disinfectant used to clean equipment and surfaces such as BioGuard
®
,
Incidin
®
, Clinell
®
or similar.
•
In a spark-free environment, remove the flame-retardant hose cover from the hose.
•
Note: the hose and the hose cover can be fully submerged if there is sufficient time for
drying in between uses.
•
The complete hose must not be reconnected to the head unit or to the blower, nor reused
until completely dry.
