5.2 SOMNO vent S: Startup
Always use an exhalation system. The exha-
lation system allows the used air containing
carbon dioxide(CO
2
) to escape from the
mask. Without an exhalation system the CO
2
concentration would rise to critical values in
the mask and hose, thus hindering your
breathing.
The exhalation system must always be in-
stalled in the direct vicinity of the mask.
An exhalation system is already incorporat-
ed in some mask systems. In this case no
separate exhalation system is required.
Please refer to the operating instructions for
the relevant nasal mask in this regard.
1. If the mask has no integrated exhala-
tion system, place the exhalation sys-
