7.2 Checking the system
for leaks
1. Close the system
behind
the pressure re-
ducer, e.g. by switching off all connec-
ted devices or by closing the valves on
the distribution unit.
2. Check that all screwed unions and tube
connections are firmly attached. If neces-
sary, tighten them by hand.
3.
Slowly
open the valve of the oxygen cy-
linder. You can now read the cylinder
pressure on the contents gage
of the
pressure reducer. For example, a rea-
ding of 200 bar means that the cylinder
is full, a reading of 100 bar that it is half
full.
You should change the cylinder in good
time, e.g. when the pressure falls below
50 bar, to ensure a sufficiently long ope-
rating time.
4. Close the cylinder valve again.
5. Observe the needle of the contents gage
for about 1 minute. If the position of the
needle stays constant, the system is free
from leaks. If the needle falls steadily, the-
re is a leak in the system.
Rectifying leaks
We recommend you keep a stock of
replacement seals for the connectors.
1. Prepare a soapy solution using unperfu-
med soap.
