GETTING STARTED
2.1 UNPACKING
Carefully unpack the unit and inspect it for obvious signs of physical damage that might have
occurred during shipment. Any damage claims must be reported to the carrier immediately. Be
sure to check the package contents for important documents and materials.
The following items should be inside the shipping container:
1. Diamond DX
™
Messaging Unit
2. PCMCIA Card, Wegener P/N 24380-01
3. 12 VDC Power Supply, Commercial Grade
4. Cable, DB9 - DB9, Wegener P/N 18120-36.0
2.2 REQUIRED ITEMS
You will need the following item to complete the Diamond DX ™ installation:

Two audio cables with phono plugs on each end to connect the Diamond DX to the
Muzak audio receiver, and the Diamond DX to the audio amplifier.

You will also need a standard, flat tipped jewelers screw driver.
2.3 INSTALLATION
You will normally install the Diamond DX near the Muzak Satellite Audio Receiver, and near an
AC power outlet. Mount the Diamond DX in a clean, dry environment, and do not place
unsupported equipment on it. If you are not sure of the procedure you should follow, call Muzak
NOC for assistance. Also, see Figure 2-1, page 2-4, for a view of a typical setup.

POWER FROM THE DIAMOND UNIT. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY DESTROY
FILES AND / OR DAMAGE THE CARD.
