QUICK START GUIDE
Use the guidelines below to prop-
erly mount the SmartSensor Rail:
˽
Mount the SmartSensor Rail
on entrance gate masts or on
stand alone poles at the edge of
the Minimum Track Clearance
Distance zone (MTCD).
˽
Mount the sensors so that
each sensors’ 90-degree, 140
feet (42.7 m) detection pattern
spans the crossing island.
˽
The SmartSensor Rail rec-
ognizes lanes of traffic and
detects the presence of moving
or stopped vehicles in up to
ten lanes.
˽
For larger or irregularly-
shaped crossings, multiple
sensors (up to eight) may be used without interference.
˽
Position the sensor so that it will be able to detect the entire area of interest. Acoid occlusion by install-
ing the sensor away from trees, signs and other roadside structures.
˽
A minimum of 6 feet (1.8 m) to the first lane of interest is required.
˽
The sensor should not be mounted with signs and other flat surfaces directly behind it. This will help
reduce multiple reflection paths from a single vehicle.
