6.2 INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
6.2.1 Installing the Battery Shelf
Install and secure the Battery Shelf into the bottom of the HPSA enclosure using the
provided hardware.

6.2.2 Installing the Batteries in the Cabinet
1. Gather the sealed lead acid batteries and hardware.

4 AGM SLA batteries

Installation Kit (includes battery cables)
2. Open the door as described in Section 6.1.
3. Place four batteries in the battery compartment standing vertically , facing
outward (terminals facing you) as follows (refer Figure 6.5):

Battery 1: Po terminal at bottom .

Battery 2: Negative
–
terminal at bottom .

Battery 3: Po terminal at bottom .

Battery 4: Negative
–
terminal at bottom.
TO AVOID RISK OF PHYSICAL HARM OR BATTERY SHORT CIRCUIT
WHEN CONNECTING BATTERIES, CONNECT THE TERMINAL TO THE
RED/POSITIVE POST BEFORE THE BLACK/NEGATIVE POST.
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN INSTALLING, CLAMPING, AND
WIRING THE BATTERIES. SHORTING ONE OR MORE BATTERIES
AGAINST THE ENCLOSURE, CLAMP BAR, ELECTRONIC
COMPONENTS OR WIRING COULD RESULT IN SEVERE BODILY
HARM, FIRE, AND/OR EXPLOSION.
DO NOT SMOKE OR USE AN OPEN FLAME WHEN WORKING ON THE
BATTERIES. AN ACCIDENTAL SPARK COULD RESULT IN BATTERY
EXPLOSION.
