1.4.3.3
Audio and Monitoring Board (AMB)
All connections between the HPSA-7100-R to an External Source or Monitoring Control
Panel originate from the Audio and Monitoring Bridge (AMB). The AMB accepts a
1V
RMS
or 25 V
RMS
Line Level Audio Input Signal and a 70.7 or 100 V
RMS
input signal
when configured with the optional HPSA-7100-V-KIT.
The HPSA’s output is activated by a contact closure to the AMB. Additionally, the AMB
provides six (6) configurable Trouble contact closure outputs for monitoring the health
status of the HPSA.
The AMB is mounted to an interface plate which allows space for mounting electrical
boxes to install modules and control devices (Note - all codes and regulations must be
adhered to when mounting boxes and modules).
The (optional) HPSA-7100-V-KIT, consisting of an Interface Module, wire harness and
mounting hardware, mounts above and connects to the 1V
RMS
Audio Input on the AMB.
The Kit’s Interface Module provides a User selectable Audio Input of either 70.7 V
RMS
or
100 V
RMS
based on a jumper setting.
1.4.3.4
Amplifier Module
The HPSA-7100-R amplifier module employs Class D amplification. As a safety measure,
the amplifier includes a security shutoff whenever over-temperature is reached.
The power amplifier feeds up to 800 W of audio signal power to the speakers, depending
on model number. The amplifier delivers messages and siren signals at high output levels.
High reliability and error-free operation are achieved by special design considerations.
1.4.3.5
Battery Charger Operations
The battery charger is designed to output a maximum of approximately 56 Vdc (14 V/
battery) to a bank of four series-connected sealed lead-acid (SLA) absorbent glass mat
(AGM) dry-cell batteries. It operates in a constant current mode, in that the current is
limited to a total of four amperes.
1.4.3.6
Intrusion Detection
A mechanical Tamper detector is positioned inside the electronics cabinet that detects
when the cabinet door is ajar. If the door is opened, the Control Panel backlight
automatically illuminates until the door is closed. In addition, the AMB’s Tamper (door
open) trouble output is activated to inform the SAFEPATH or other external audio system
of the event.
1.4.3.7
Electronics Grounding and Lightning Protection
The HPSA-7100-R has two transient protection features:
•
Speaker protection
•
Transient surge protection
1.4.3.8
Battery Power
The HPSA-7100-R is powered by four, maintenance-free AGM SLA batteries. When
active, the HPSA runs on battery power only. Therefore, the type and quality of batteries
used is critical for proper operations. Contact Cooper Notification for replacement.
