Starting the detector
27
To connect to the electricity source:
Recommendation:
Use a line conditioner and uninterruptible power supply
(UPS) for optimum long-term input voltage stability.
1. Connect the female end of the power cord to the receptacle on the rear
panel of the detector.
2. Connect the male end of the power cord to a suitable wall outlet.
Alternative:
If your system includes the optional FlexCart, connect the
female end of the FlexCart's electrical cable (included in the startup kit)
to the receptacle on the rear panel of the detector. Connect the hooded,
male end of the FlexCart's electrical cable to the power strip on the back
of the cart. Finally, connect the power strip's cable to a wall outlet
operating on its own circuit.
Starting the detector
Starting the detector entails powering-on the detector and each system
instrument individually, as well as the workstation. It also entails starting
the operating software (Empower or MassLynx).
Warning:
Using incompatible solvents can injure you and severely
damage the instrument. See
“Solvent considerations” on page 74
more information.
Caution:
• To ensure a long life for the flow cell and proper detector
initialization, ensure eluents are flowing before you power-on the
detector.
• To minimize contaminants that can leave deposits on the flow cell’s
walls, flush new columns for 15 minutes before connecting the flow
cell.
