Configuration of the Serial Interfaces
The
Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
has four serial interfaces via which alarm
information, depth information and information on the device status can be transmitted.
Various NMEA data sets are available for transmission of the information.
The data sets that can be transmitted via the interface can be defined individually for each
interface in the "SERIAL INTERFACES" menu.
The following NMEA data sets are available:

Designation
Description
ALC
Standard NMEA data set for ensuring a
secure and consistent data distribution.
ALF
Standard NMEA data set for signalling the
alarm status.
ALR
Standard NMEA data set for signalling the
alarm status.
DPT
Standard NMEA data set, contains the
water depth in metres.
DBT
Standard NMEA data set, contains the
depth under the transducer in fathoms,
metres and feet.
HBT
Standard NMEA data set, contains infor-
mation on the device status.
PELACSDS
Proprietary NMEA data set, contains in-
formation on the set parameters and the
installation position of the transducer in
addition to the water depth.

The BAM-compliant sets ALC and ALF should be used instead of ALR. ALR is con-
tained only for reasons of compatibility with older environments.
