Operation of the System
6.5.1
General
The
Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
has a keyboard that is used to
•
switch the device on and off;
•
navigate within the menus and to select and activate menu items;
•
control special functions (change depth measuring range, set marks, etc.).

Switching ON the Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
Some functions are controlled via the menu, others can be controlled via special keys
on the keyboard (e.g. change depth measuring range).
NOTICE
Damage to the transducers possible!
The output of a transmission signal against air can result in damage to the connected
transducers.
The system may only be activated when the transducers are completely immersed
in water.
NOTICE
Damage to the transducers possible!
As soon as the device is switched on, it transmits signals continuously. Transmitting of
signals with the wrong transducer configuration can result in damage to the transducers
and the device.
Connect the transducers to the system only after configuration.
Carry out changes to the transducer configuration only with the transducers discon-
nected from the system.
Proceed as follows to switch on the Naviga-
tion Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
:
1. Hold the
[ON]
key
depressed briefly
(approx. 1 sec.).
–
The unit is booted.
–
The start screen is displayed after
5 to 10 seconds.
–
The device starts to send transmis-
sion pulses.

After the booting of the device, the display area is blank. No data stored earlier are dis-
played when the device is rebooted.
