5.7 Machine Setup
WARNING!
Always use the machine outdoors and park
the machine in a position where the prevailing
winds blow the engine exhaust away from the
operator. Exhaust from the engine contains
carbon monoxide (CO) that can accumulate to a
dangerous level, even in an area with good air
fl ow.

CAUTION!
Maintain a safe distance from the area where
the machine expels the wood chips. Use the
discharge chute and/or hood defl ector to direct
the expelled material away from the work area, all
people, animals, and objects.
The machine can expel wood chips fast enough
to cause eye, cut, and impact injuries and/or
property damage.

Use the tow vehicle to position the wood chipper at the
work site. Leave the chipper attached to the tow vehicle (if
used) for greater stability. Lower the rear jack.
2.
With no tow vehicle available, block the wheels and lower
the jacks so that the machine is stable.

On the rear of the feed table, pull the latches inward and
lower it.

On the right-hand side, lock the feed table in the lowered
position.

Point the discharge chute in the desired direction. Adjust
the hood deflector as required.
