Installation Instructions for Optional Vehicle Detectors
The vehicle detector passes a small current flow through the in-ground laid “loop” which then becomes
an inductive coil. When a vehicle passes over the loop the detector senses the resultant drop in the
inductance, and this in turn actuates its output relay.
The best way to ensure a quality installation is to employ a professional installer experienced with
vehicle detection ground-loop systems.

For SpeedGates using vehicle
detectors, they are only to
be used for vehicular traffic
and the loops should not be
less than 60 feet square (5.6
square meters).
