Finishing work and cleaning the unit
1. Switch the unit off.
2. Hold the paint spray gun in the original container. Press the
trigger to release the pressure in the spray gun container.
3. Undo the paint container closing lever and remove the
container.
4. Empty the remaining coating material into the original
container.
Only use solvents with a flash point above 21 °C.
5. Fill the spray gun container with solvent or water and fit onto
the spray gun.
6. Shake the paint spray gun well.
Never spray into a container with only a small
opening (bunghole)!
7. Switch the unit on and spray the solvent or water into an open
container.
8. Repeat this procedure until the solvent or water coming out of
the tip is clear.
Then empty the paint container completely.
Never leave solvents in the spray gun container; this
may cause pressure to build up in the container.
Always keep the paint container seal clean of left over coating
material and check regularly for signs of damage.
9. Switch the unit off.
10. Clean the outer surfaces of the paint container and paint spray
gun with a cloth soaked in solvent or water.

Do not leave the FineCoat Split-Gun spray gun
immersed in solvent for extended periods! (The
seals and air pipe on non-return valve may swell,
preventing them from functioning properly.)
11. Separate the gun head from the gun rear (see instructions
on page 15). Remove the needle, fluid nozzle, and air cap
and clean them thoroughly. Make sure that the air holes and
material passages are completely clean.

Never use sharp metal objects to clean the nozzles or
air channels of the FineCoat Split-Gun spray gun.
12. Apply a fine coat of silicone-free oil to the threaded parts of
the spray gun when reassembling. This will help keep them
working properly.
13. If the paint spray gun is not used for any length of time, it
should be cleaned and protected by applying a fine coat of
silicone-free oil.
9. Maintenance
Perform the following maintenance procedures to keep your HVLP
spray gun working properly. New parts can be obtained by ordering
the HVLP Gun Repair Kit, part number 0524187.
9.1
Adjusting the packing nut
If material leaks from around or through the packing nut (Fig. 19, item
1), readjust the packing nut.
1. Disconnect the air hose from the air inlet and remove the cup
assembly.
2. Pull the trigger all the way back and hold.
3. Tighten the packing nut (1) using a 8mm wrench until the
needle remains retracted inside the nozzle when you release
the trigger.

4. Loosen the packing nut slowly until the needle moves freely
back into position in the nozzle.
Once you have adjusted the nut, reconnect the air hose and the cup
assembly. Squeeze the trigger to see if the leaking has stopped. If
it has not, make sure the packing nut is as tight as possible, while
allowing the needle to move freely. If adjusting the packing nut does
not stop the leak, replace the packing.
9.2
Replacing the needle packing and air valve
seals

Remove the needle packing only when replacing
with a new needle packing. Do not remove the
needle packing for cleaning.
The needle packing and the air valve seals can be
replaced separately. If you are replacing only one of
them, use the appropriate steps from the following
procedures.
Removing the needle and housing
1. Disconnect the air hose from the air inlet (Fig. 20, item 1).
2. Separate the gun head from the gun rear (see instructions on
page 17). The needle will remain in the gun head.
3. Loosen the air flow valve nut (2) and remove the air flow
adjustment knob and the air flow valve nut (2) to allow access
to the material flow adjustment housing (3).
4. Loosen and remove the material flow adjustment housing (3),
needle (4), seal and spring (5) using a wrench.
