NOTE:
•
Values in the table are nominal. Tolerance is
+/-10 %.
•
Asterisk (*) indicates 3 phase/4wire.
•
Each heater has three internal elements.
•
6.0 KW heaters used on older models and
included for reference.
CAUTION
Use only mechanical cleaning methods
on heating elements. Do not immerse elements in a
chemical solution to descale.
NOTE:
If the removed element shows a pronounced
scale build-up on its heating tubes, the other elements
should be removed and mechanically cleaned to
remove the scale.
Replace a heating element as follows:
1.
Remove
A.
Drain the water from boiler shell.
B.
Remove cover of contactor box.
C.
Disconnect electric wires from the element
terminals.
D.
Remove bolts that secure the element in
place.
E.
Pull the element out of the unit.
NOTE:
Always replace the gasket when a heating
element is removed / replaced.
2.
Install
A.
Look at the flange and tube mounting
surfaces.
B.
If required clean the flange and tube
mounting surfaces.
C.
Install a new gasket on the heating element.
D.
Inset the heating element in the unit and
secure in place with bolts. Tighten the bolts
hand tight plus a quarter turn.
E.
Reconnect the electrical wires to the heating
element terminals. Tighten the fasteners
hand tight.
F.
Install the cover on the contactor box.
3.
Refill the boiler and check for proper operation.
HEAT - DIRECT STEAM MODELS
These models consist of a pressure regulator and
gauge that run off a buildings potable steam supply.
The maximum input pressure to the regulator should
be 15 psi. Incoming power (120VAC) for the
compartment controls is supplied from a junction box
in the base.
HEAT - REGENERATED STEAM MODELS (STEAM
COIL)
CAUTION
The regulator should be set ONLY when
steam is flowing (steam solenoid valve is open).
NOTE:
If steam is heavy with condensate, a ball float
trap can be installed in the steam line before the
pressure regulating valve.
The steam coils are intended for use at a steam supply
pressure of 15 psi maximum. A pressure regulating
valve is available as optional equipment for steamers
where the steam supply pressure exceeds 15 psi. The
regulator:
•
Must be adjustable.
