The instrument password uses lower-case letters.

This password mechanism provides only the most basic security. Applications requiring

additional security should consider using private, dedicated subnets, firewalls, etc. to

limit access to the instrument on the network.

PGRADE

This action page is used to upgrade the embedded firmware of the EX1200A controller and DMM
(if  installed)  as  well  as  the  plug-in  modules.  Prior  to  initiating  the  firmware  upgrade  process,  a
new,  uncompressed  firmware  image  must  be  obtained  from  VTI  Instruments  and  be  accessible
from  the  computer  that  is  connected  to  the  EX1200A.  Unless  specifically  noted  by  VTI
Instruments,  firmware  upgrades  do  not  alter  the  non-volatile  configuration  settings  (network
configuration, time configuration) of the EX1200A.

NOTE

Do not power cycle the EX1200A during the firmware upgrade process. If power is lost during the
upgrade, the instrument may be put into an inoperable state, requiring return to the factory. An
uninterruptible power supply may be used to avoid this risk.

Perform the following steps to conduct a firmware upgrade:

1)

Remove Temporary Internet Files.

2)

Perform a

Reboot

or a power cycle.

3)

Connect to the EX1200A via the embedded web page.

4)

Click on the

Upgrade

link.

5)

Click on the

Browse

button and select the firmware image file to be uploaded to the

instrument.

6)

Click the

Submit

button to initiate the upgrade process.

During the firmware upgrade, an

Upgrade Status

window will appear (see Figure 7-23). Note

that, if a DMM is not installed in the system, one fewer step be reported. Controller/DMM
firmware upgrades typically take about 5 minutes to complete. Upon completion of the upgrade,
click on the

Reboot

button. After rebooting has completed (approximately one minute), click on

the

Index

link in the

Command

Menu

to continue operating the EX1200A using the web

interface. Note that the “Rebooting” prompt will not refresh itself.
