Starting the engine with the recoil starter (pull
cord)
1) Turn the ignition key switch to the “ON” position.
2) If the engine is cold, close the choke by moving the choke lever all the
way to the left.
The choke may not be necessary on warm days or when the
unit has already been running.
To start a warm engine, ensure the choke is open by
confirming the lever is all the way to the right.
3) Turn on the fuel by moving the fuel shut off lever all the way to the right
(Figure 17).

7) Actuate the unloader valve by pulling out the handle (Figure 18).
The unloader valve should be opened to reduce the load on the
engine during warm up.
