EXAMPLE 5:
To test the voltage and current in a larger IRS
installation
1.
Disconnect all 5 cables of the trunk from the amplifier/power
source.
2.
Connect the 18V from H: Lo of the EV5-100T to the DC In
(source) connector of the TV/SAT Power Meter.
3.
Check the display reads 18V.
4.
If the display is less than 18V, check/replace the power supply.
5.
Connect the DC OUT connector of the TV/SAT Power Meter to
the H: Lo terminal of the next piece of equipment in the trunk
network to power the system.
6.
Press and hold the red test button.
7.
Read the current consumption of the system. Does the reading
match the ratings plate calculation for the system?
8.
If the current reading is higher or lower than expected, check
the connections for a whisker of braid at a connector then
check each piece of equipment by substitution.
9.
Break the system into sections by disconnecting the truck
cables at convenient points. Then compare the current
consumption on each section.
