INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE ESCUTCHEON INSTALLER TOOL

Viking

Model E-1 Recessed and F-1 Adjustable Escutcheons may be installed onto Viking

sprinklers using Escutcheon Installer Tool

Part Number 15166. To use the escutcheon installer, attach a length of 1” diameter CPVC tubing to the tool, as shown in Figure 1

below.

Step 1:

Install the sprinkler and escutcheon adapter according to the Installa-

tion Instructions provided in the appropriate technical data page for the
sprinkler model being used.

NOTE:

Sprinklers with protective caps or bulb shields must be contained within

the caps or shields.

Step 2:

After the ceiling is installed and the proper size hole is cut, attach the

escutcheon cup using the Escutcheon Installer Tool. Refer to Figures 2 and 3.

a.  Remove the escutcheon cup from the protective box and attach it to the Escutcheon Installer Tool.
b.  Gently place the escutcheon cup over the sprinkler protruding through the opening in the ceiling.
c.  Press on the outer escutcheon cup until the flanges touch the surface of the ceiling.
d. Pull to release the cover installer from the cover plate.

For precise installation, the Escutcheon Installer Tool is adjustable to match the amount the sprinkler is recessed above the ceiling.

Simply turn the tool clockwise or counterclockwise.

NOTE:

With the Model E-1 Recessed Escutcheon, the maximum adapter recess is 5/8” (16 mm). With the Model F-1 Adjustable

Escutcheon, the maximum recess is ¼” (6.4 mm). Note: The face of the escutcheon adapter may extend up to ¼” (6.4 mm)
beyond the edge of the escutcheon cup, resulting in ½” (12.7 mm) total adjustment range.

DO NOT modify the unit. If necessary, re-cut the sprinkler drop nipple as required.

Step 3:

Remove plastic protective sprinkler caps and bulb shields AFTER the ceiling finish work is completed where the sprinkler

is installed and there no longer is a potential for mechanical damage to the sprinkler operating elements. To remove the bulb
shields, simply pull the ends of the shields apart where they are snapped together. To remove caps from frame style sprinklers,
turn the caps slightly and pull them off the sprinklers.

SPRINKLER CAPS AND BULB SHIELDS MUST BE REMOVED FROM

SPRINKLERS BEFORE PLACING THE SYSTEM IN SERVICE!

NOTE:

The effectiveness of using a CPVC pipe longer than 12 ft. may be significantly reduced.
