Auto-

-Serial automatically toggles between all selected

wavelengths (see

Fig. 21

), and, combined with a compatible

power meter (e.g. OLP-3x, OLP-85), the power meter

automatically sets up with correct wavelength settings. This

mode should be selected when low levels are expected on the

optical power meter or when the power meter doesn't support

Auto-

-Multi.

Note:

Wavelengths cannot be reliably detected by a power

meter, if

• the receive level is too low,

• the wavelength encoding cannot be detected due to

interference, or

• you are measuring the absolute level of a system that

does not have wavelength encoding matching Viavi

power sources.

Selecting a mode

Tapping the

[

Mode selection

) toggles between

the modes as shown in the figure below. There are modes where

only a single wavelength can be selected (i.e. CW, 270 Hz, 1 kHz,

2 kHz). Furthermore, there are Auto

modes where multiple

wavelengths can be selected (i.e. Auto

, Auto-

-Multi, Auto-

Serial). When only one (a single) wavelength is selected, the

device is in Auto

mode. When multiple wavelengths are

selected, you can toggle between Auto-

-Multi and Auto-

Serial mode.
