Connect to the circuit under test (see

Establish a hard loopback at the far end.

Start the test (see

Verify that the PATTERN SYNC LED is illuminated.

Observe the test results, particularly the R-Trip Delay result in the BERT category 
(see 

“Step 5: Viewing test results” on page 9

).

Round trip delay is measured.

Troubleshooting inverted clocks

The instrument declares clock inversion whenever the 

received clock polarity is deter-

mined to be

 opposite to the polarity (Normal or Inverted) that you specified when you 

configured your test. For details, see 

“Specifying the timing settings” on page 13
