6.2.4 Checking the locking device
WARNING!
Risk of injury from a defective locking device!
The locking device prevents undesired lateral movement of the
Smart
Fork ® on the profile of the fork carriage. Uncontrolled movement of
the VETTER Smart Fork
®
during transportation could cause the load to
slip and cause serious injuries.
– Replace damaged locking devices immediately.
– If the locking device is missing, it must be replaced before start-up.
– Do not use the VETTER Smart Fork
®
without a locking device.
1. Check the open and lock positions of the lever.
2. Check the locking device for damage and completeness Ä Chapter 3.1 “Structure
of the basic fork” on page 26 .
3. Remove any dirt from the locking device.

Cleaning the VETTER SmartFork ®
Personnel: n Driver of industrial trucks
Protective equipment: n Protective work clothing
n Industrial helmet
n Protective gloves
n Safety shoes
Check the following points:
n Regularly clean the VETTER Smart Fork ® .
n Do not use a high-pressure cleaning device and do not use any aggressive
cleaning products.
n Clean the fork blade and back/shank with a broom or brush.
n
Clean the protective glass of the cameras and sensors with a soft cloth and
soapy water without applying any pressure.
