Flush-mounting detector for monitoring air quality by measuring

CO

2

 equivalent (CO

2

eq)

, designed to be installed in closed environments

such as shops, offices, public places, etc.

The output relay is activated when the equivalent CO2 concentration exceeds

the intervention value set with the knob, and can be used, for example,

to activate ventilation units for air exchange. The device performs actions

of 1B type  and is intended to operate in environments with pollution degree 2

and overvoltage category III (EN 60730-1).

When we talk about air quality, we usually mean the concentration
of carbon dioxide present.
However, it is established that there are, in addition to carbon dioxide (CO

2

),

also other gases responsible for the decay of air quality and, consequently,
of the greenhouse effect: methane (CH

4

), protoxide nitrogen (N

2

O),

hydrofluorocarbons (HFC), perfluorocarbons (PFC) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF

6

)

Each of these gases contributes to the greenhouse effect with a different
weight (called GWP or Global Warming Potential).
The measurement of all these gases that also takes account
of their specific GWP is called

CO

2

 equivalent (CO

2

eq)

.

• Use the selector placed on the front to turn on or off the device:
- position

0

: device off, no regulation

- position

|

: device switched on, active regulation.

•  Use the knob to set the intervention value.
It’s possible to set values between 400 ppm and 2000 ppm.
   When the CO

2

concentration present in the room exceeds the set value,

the red led lights up and the relay switches between contacts 1-2.

Note: in order to preserve the life of the system, the minimum time
between a relay switching and the next one is 1 minute. However, the led
status updating is immediate. Therefore, after using the regulation knob, it
is possible to find a momentary discrepancy between what is indicated by
the led and the actual status of the relay.
This condition lasts for up to 1 minute.

Setpoint modification

The device signals the probe error condition with the LED flashing.
In this case the regulation is inhibited and the relay contact remains
between terminals 2 and 3. Contact Vemer Technical Support.

•   Install the device at a height of about 1.5-2 m from the floor, avoiding positions

with excess or total lack of ventilation. Also make sure that the detector is

installed away from direct radiation, at a distance of at least 30 centimeters

from doors, windows and heat sources. Pay attention that the flow of air that

hits the detector is not obstructed by curtains or wardrobes placed nearby.

Avoid installing the detector in a humid area or with temperatures outside

the operating range. Also avoid positioning the detector near sinks, hobs

or near extractor hoods or vents and, more generally, areas where dirt

and dust could obstruct the slots, preventing correct operation

•   The device is sold already mounted with anthracite colour.

To transform it in the white version, remove the knob and the cover, acting

on the hooks placed on the upper and lower side of the device and mount

the cover and the white knob included in the package.

•   Make the connections by respecting

the diagrams described in this manual.

•   Fix the device inside the 3 modules box

in compliance with the assembly diagrams

described on the back of this instruction sheet.

The accessories for the installation

included in the package allow the mounting

of the plates described in the diagram

“adjustable cover plates”.

INSTALLATION

Reduction of the adjustment range

It is possible to mechanically limit the adjustment range if the device
is installed, for example, in public places or in hotel rooms.

To limit the adjustment range, proceed as follows:
-  position the knob in an intermediate value to the desired range

(for example, if the desired adjustment range is 1000-1600 ppm,

bring the knob indicator to the 1300 ppm position)

-  remove the knob.
-   under the knob there are two rings  marked from the words “min”

and “MAX”, respectively for the lower limit and above.

-   turn the “min” ring nut clockwise

and position it at the minimum
value of the desired adjustment
range (refer to the ppm values
shown on the cover).

-  turn the “MAX” ring nut

anticlockwise and position

it corresponding to the

maximum value of the

desired adjustment range

(refer to the ppm values   shown on the cover).

-   reposition the knob, making sure that the indicator of the setpoint on

the knob is in the same position as when the knob has been removed.

To remove the setpoint limitation, turn the two ring nuts until the limitation
blocks are in an external position in the range 400 ppm ÷ 2000 ppm.

 REFERENCE STANDARDS

Compliance with Community Directives
2014/35/UE (LVD) and 2014/30/UE (EMCD)
is declared with reference to the following harmonized standards: • EN 60730-2-15

03-2021

Fiuto does not require any particular maintenance.

However, it is necessary to ensure the cleanliness of the slots placed

on the front to ensure proper air flow. Do not use chemicals, polishes

or bleach for cleaning. Simply dust with a damp cloth.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

After powering up, the device performs the starting phase, which is
necessary to warm up the detector. In this phase, which lasts a total of about
20 seconds, the red led flashes and in the initial 2 seconds the relay switches
twice. In this phase the device does not perform any adjustment and the relay
remains between terminals 2 and 3.

After the starting phase, the device performs the detector self-calibration.
This phase has a variable duration, from about 30 minutes in the best case
(which occurs if the room is well ventilated, with a CO

2

eq concentration of

about 400 ppm) up to 8 hours in the worst case. During the self-calibration
phase, the adjustment is still active, even if the CO

2

eq measurement carried

out by the detector can take place with lower accuracy.

Note: the starting and self-calibration phase are performed every time
the device is powered.
