PREPARATION FOR FILAMENT REPLACEMENT

17. Supporting the middle filament with both hands, gently (release and) raise the filament from the wire

supports, placing the filament onto protective material.

Removing Filament Wire Supports

18. Remove the set of middle wire supports from the insulation blocks that separate the filaments.

19. Remove all wire supports for the outer filament and replace them with wire supports from the

20. Remove and inspect each wire support for the middle filament, and replace damaged (or all) wire

INSTALLATION OF REPLACEMENT HEATER ASSEMBLY

Heater Installation

21. Remove the heater assembly from the shipping container and install it on the baseplate (already on

the reactor cart frame).

22. Align the Water Cooling Tubes with the Water Cooling Tube holes.

23. Align the copper electrodes with the ceramic bushings.

24. Slowly lower the heater assembly (including the inner filament, shown in red) into the holes of the

electrode bushings and baseplate water lines (see Figure 5-109).
