It is compulsory to wear certified gloves and protective goggles when using the device.
Never use the machine without its protective guard and “spark guards”.
Always check that the work supports are firmly fixed before using the machine.
As the wheel wears down, adjust the work support and screen slide:
1.5mm between the work support and the wheel
2mm between the slide and the wheel
When using the grinder, stand in a stable, balanced position, without stretching, and keep
children at a distance.
Never leave the machine running unsupervised. Keep the workshop clean and tidy.
Before use, make sure the grinding wheels are not damaged or cracked. If there is the
slightest doubt, replace at once (a damaged grinding wheel can fly apart at speed).
Replacement grinding wheels must be identical in characteristics and dimensions.
This machine is not suitable for grinding soft substances such as lead, magnesium or light
alloys.
7 ASSEMBLY
ATTENTION! Disconnect the power plug before carrying out any
adjustments or maintenance.
Fit the work supports (10) using the bolts supplied (mounted on the housing in the factory).
Set these work supports not more than 2mm from the grinding wheel.
Fit the transparent protection screens (6), (7) using the screws supplied, over the wheel
guards. The clearance between the slide (7) and the wheel must not exceed 2mm.
Whenever the machine is used, the screen must be in low position.
It is strongly recommended that the grinder should be bolted to a bench or work table. The
length of the bolts will be determined by the thickness off the bench top. The machine
must be fixed by 4 bolts in the places provided for them in the base (1). The grinder is
fitted with rubber “anti-vibration” shoes. Nevertheless, the inclusion of a piece of soft wood
between the base and the bench is recommended for better absorption of vibrations.
8 OPERATION
This machine is designed for sharpening tools or grinding small parts. It is not suitable for
grinding heavy sheet metal parts.
U
se the appropriate grinding wheel for the job: the “SOFT” wheel for hard metals / the
“HARD” wheel for soft metals.
Do not grind wood, plastic, soft alloys (e.g. lead) or similar materials, as this would clog
the grinding wheels.
Apply gradually increasing pressure to the part to be ground, which must not be brought
into sudden contact with the grinding wheel.
For prolonged grinding operations, cool the work at regular intervals in water. Some tools
(e.g. wood chisels) must not be ground “blue”.
Hold the work-piece firmly so that it cannot jam between the grinding wheel and the
support (with risk of damage or even fracture of the wheel).
Changing the grinding wheel (tools required: wrench 19mm
– wrench 8mm – cross-head
screwdriver): Machine disconnected
remove the spark-guard (6) or (7) and wheel guard (5) or (9),
unscrew wheel fixing nut
Warning: seen from in front, the shaft on the right has a right-hand
(conventional) thread, and the shaft on the left a left-hand thread.
