2315NDT v2 CMOS X-ray Detector User Manual
14.1.2
Installing the Detector
To install and connect the detector:
1
Install the Intel Epix E8 frame-grabber in the host PC.
(Further information can be found in the
Dexela X-ray Detector Software Manual
)
2
Install the detector unit below the X-ray source with the emission collimated to the active
area. Use a Source-to-Imager Distance (SID) of 60 cm for example. Install in a position where
there is adequate air circulation or with conductive heat sinking using the four mounting
holes (two on each side) of the detector.
The detector unit may become warm during continuous operation—this is normal.
3
Connect the DC power cable between the PSU and the detector. Connect the PSU mains cord
to a suitable socket (100 – 240 V AC, 50 – 60 Hz).
Do not turn on the detector.
4
Install the software (for instructions, refer to the
Dexela X-ray Detector Software Manual
).
5
Connect the CL data cables between the detector and the frame-grabber in the PC.
Connector 1 on the detector should be wired to the connector nearest the PC motherboard.
14.2
Powering Up the Detector and Acquiring Raw Images
Once you have installed and connected the detector, you can power it up then launch SCap.
Launching SCap after powering up the detector ensures that the detector receives configuration
information when SCap starts.
To power up the detector:
1
Turn on the PSU, and check that is operational as per manufacturer’s instructions. The
detector start up initialization sequence shall take less than two minutes to be ready for an
image to be acquired.
2
Start Windows then launch SCap.
3
Select the
Auto-contrast
check box, click
Normal
then click
Snap
.
