Precision Flow® Disposable Patient Circuit for use with the INOmax®
Nitric Oxide Delivery System
Instructions for Use

Operations with the INOmax
1. Assemble and then install the Disposable Patient Circuit (DPC) in the Precision
Flow unit in accordance with Vapotherm instructions.
2. Attach the 22mm and 15mm tubing connectors of the DPC to the Injector
Module and let hang below the Precision Flow unit as shown in
Figure 1
.
3. Verify the tubing connectors are pressed firmly into the Injector Module to
prevent leaks.
4. Connect the sample tee per instructions as shown in
Figure 4
(page 2).
5. Route the tubing so it exits the Precision Flow at the bottom of the DPC next to
the delivery tube so that it does not interfere with the door closing (
Figure 1
).
6. Close the Precision Floor door, making sure the tubing does not interfere, kink,
or bind in the door (
Figure 2
). This may stop the flow through the circuit and
result in an occluded tube alarm.
7. Connect cannula to the end of the gas sample tee. Verify flow is passing
through the cannula before attaching it to the patient.
8. Allow the Precision Flow to heat to set temperature before placing cannula on
the patient or administering Inhaled Nitric Oxide (INO) therapy.
9. Follow INOmax® Information for Use for proper operation of the INOmax
equipment and nitric oxide delivery.
The INOmax adds NO/N
2
gas flow to the breathing circuit flow in proportion to the
NO setting (up to 10% at 80ppm), and subtracts gas from the breathing circuit via
the gas sampling system at a nominal flow rate of 0.23 L/min (see INOmax Op-
eration Manual). This slightly reduces the delivered gas to the patient - you may
wish to adjust the gas source flow rate to compensate.
High Flow Therapy after discontinuing Nitric Oxide
Remove the tubing connectors from the Injector Module and attach the two
connectors together (
see Figure 3
). The connectors are compatible and will
complete the air path to permit operation without INOmax equipment. Flow will
exit the injector port opening of the Injector Module if left in series with the circuit.
Remove the cannula from the gas sample tee, remove the tee from the system
and connect the cannula to the end of the DPC delivery tube.
Warning:
Verify the connectors are firmly pressed together and the cannula is
fimly connected to the DPC delivery tube. Verify that there are no leaks in the
circuit. If the connections are not properly attached, flow through the DPC may be
inaccurate or non existent.
