Restarting the System
If starting a process fails repeatedly, that is, the process status remains
"Missing", you might have to restart the system.
To restart the system, do the following:
1.
Make sure that the operative situation at your airport allows an
interruption in the automatic data flow.
2.
Inform the AviMet users at your airport about the system restart.
3.
Log in to the CDU where the problem with the service is.
4.
Shut down and restart the system using the operating system tools.
5.
If you restart the active CDU (usually A), the passive CDU (usually
B) becomes the active CDU. After you have restarted the system, you
may change the active CDU back to CDU A, but it is not necessary for
the system operation.
6.
After restart, do the following:
-
Check the
System Status
panel in the Diagnostics application to
make sure that the situation is normal.
-
Check from the
System Status
panel in the Diagnostics
application to check that all objects are present in the system.
-
Check the Events in the
Events
panel in the Diagnostics
application for any related event messages.
Missing Data After System Restart
Users might report missing values in Weather View after system restart.
This is because the average values remain missing for a period required for
calculating a valid average. This period is approximately one minute for
two-minute averages and six minutes for ten-minute averages.
If users report missing data soon after system restart, find out whether the
missing data is average values. If it is, no action is required. However, if
average data does not appear after the specified period, there is a problem
in the system. In such a case, check the Events in the Diagnostics
application.
CAUTION
Restarting the system interrupts the automatic data flow to the system.
Before restarting the system, consider the operative situation carefully.
