7 Care and maintenance
7.4
Build-up of fluff
Fluff is made up of fine textile fibres that largely come from the manufacturing process,
from wear and tear during use and from items being washed. Fluff is not caused by ex-
cessive strain on the washing in the appliance. Even when washing is hung out to dry on
a washing line, fluff is shed when the washing is shaken out or ironed.
Fluff sticks to washing when it is wet. The fluff is released during tumble drying and gets
trapped in the door filter. Fluff therefore builds up in the filter – sometimes more, some-
times less depending on the type of washing.
