Combining phrases by designating 
phrase playback start time (song 
phrases) 

 

Song phrases are recorded phrases combined by designating 
the phrase playback start times. 
 

Song phrase example 

 

Let's assume that we have prepared the following two 
phrases. 
A030: Lights on 
A031: Lights off 
We can combine these phrases to create song phrase A035 
whereby the lights come on after three minutes, and turn off 
after five minutes.

Song phrase features 

 

  Up to 100 phrases can be registered in a single song 

phrase. 

  A single phrase can be used within the song phrase as 

many times as desired. 

  Separate song phrases cannot be registered within a song 

phrase. 

  Pattern phrases cannot be registered within a song phrase. 

  In case of settings which cause the phrases to overlap, 

playback of the current phrase is suspended and playback 
of the subsequent phrase begins. 

  Phrase data from phrases registered in pattern phrases is 

disregarded except for the DMX phrase playback speed (p. 
36) and time code offset (pp. 32 & 34). 

  Phrases from either memory card A or B can be registered 

in song phrases. However, please combine the same 
memory cards during playback as well. Incorrect 
combination of the memory cards will result in incorrect 
playback. 

  MIDI phrases cannot be registered in song phrases. 

 

Creating song phrases 

 

 
 
You can return to the previous setting by pressing the STOP 
button during pattern phrase creation. 
 
 
Pressing the MODE button during pattern phrase creation 
displays a confirmation screen asking you whether or not to 
cancel the creation. Please note that selecting 'YES' and 
pressing the ENTER button returns you to the default screen 
and cancels all settings made up to that point. 

1.  Press the MODE button. 

The MODE indicator light comes on. 

2.  Turn the SELECT dial to '2.2 SONG PHRASE' 

then press the SELECT dial.
