KEYBOARDS

Input Modes

The keyboard has two modes to accept a variety of input devices.

KP3800 Keyboard

A

 card-reader slot

at the upper-left corner of the keyboard provides an enclosure for a built-in

dual-track magnetic card reader (included).  Alternatively, this card-reader slot can support a
single-track or triple-track magnetic card reader, or a bar code slot reader.

DB-9

type squeeze release port at the upper right hand side of the keyboard supports

undecoded bar code scanner and RS232 input.  Decoded scanners must be capable of Wand
Emulation (undecoded scanner) output.  Wand, CCD, and laser scanners are supported.

Keyboard Configuration Manager

also makes it easy to define the output from the built-in mag-

netic stripe slot reader or from a scanner attached to the KP3800’s built-in scanner port to exactly
the format you require.

The KP3800 is a part of a family of Unitech multifunc-
tion keyboards with 100  keys enhanced layout.  The
KP3800 features re-legendable keys,  integrated
mouse pad, integrated
Magnetic Stripe Card Reader
(or Bar Code Slot Reader),
and built-in Bar Code scan-
ning input port.  The key-
boards also feature a mini-
mal footprint and protection
against damage from liquid
spillage.

Of the KP3800’s 100 keys, 88 are programmable and 84 are relegendable.
With Unitech’s

Keyboard Configuration Manager

software, each of the 88 programmable keys

can be easily configured to be modifiable by virtually all the other keyboard keys (not only Shift S,
but also Ctrl S or even LS, for instance) so that each key can represent 97 unique inputs.
Relegending the KP3800’s keys is as easy as popping off the clear key cap and inserting a new key
label.
