APPENDIX B
Installing the 3rd Floppy Drive
This document describes how to install the 3rd Floppy Drive on an UltraStor disk
controller. Please note that UltraStor provides software to run the 3rd floppy
under DOS only..
Part 1: Cable Requirement
Option 1: Single twisted cable
This method can be used only if the drive to be installed as the 3rd drive has
drive select jumpers DS1, DS2, DS3, DS4(or DS0, DS1, DS2, DS3). The 3rd
drive should be jumpered as DS4 (or DS3 if counting from DS0). Drive A & B
should be jumpered as DS2 (or DS1 if counting from DS0). Drives that are
jumpered permanently to DS2 (or DS1 for number counting from DS0) by the
manufacturer cannot be installed using this method. The cable needed for this
installation is shown in FIGURE 1 below. Users can take the standard twisted
floppy cable and clamp an additional 34 pin header in between drive B and
controller connection header.

Option 2: Double twisted cable
This method, as shown in FIGURE 2, is for the drive that is to be used as the 3rd
drive and is jumpered permanently to DS2 (or DS1 for number counting from DS0)
by the manufacturer. All 3 drives have to be jumpered as DS2.
