Residential Pendent Model SG-R
Glass Bulb Sprinkler
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Model SG-R Galaxy Residential Sprinklers are perfect for
the most architecturally sensitive projects and are built tough
to last. The glass bulb element does not project beyond the
width of the sprinkler base, reducing the risk of damage dur-
ing installation and when in use. Galaxy sprinklers feature
an extremely small frame design which is both streamlined
and aesthetically pleasing. GALAXY RESIDENTIAL SPRIN-
KLERS are specially designed for use in residential struc-
tures like homes, condominiums, apartments, dormatories,
hotels and other living areas. Galaxy's unique design re-
quires very low flow rates and pressures. This feature helps
reduce pipe sizes and water supply requirements,
The Galaxy Series Residential Model SG-R is designed
for use in areas with finished ceilings.
OPERATION
When the sprinkler is exposed to a fire's heat, the quick
response glass bulb in the sprinkler reaches its operating
temperature and the fluid inside expands forcing it to shat-
ter, activating the sprinkler. Upon activation of the sprinkler,
water is discharged in a predesigned spray pattern to con-
trol or extinguish the fire. The SG-R sprinkler responds to
fire much faster than standard sprinklers to help reduce fire
damage.

ranty. Sprinklers should be installed according to the latest
published standards of the National Fire Protection Asso-
ciation. Sprinkler spacing and water flow rates must be in
accordance with this data sheet.
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE
Sprinkler inspections should be made on a regular basis
to detect possible damage or alteration. Residential sprin-
klers should be replaced after 20 years of service, or if they
are painted, corroded or damaged. A sprinkler that has been
actuated cannot be reassembled or reused. Replacement
must be made with a sprinkler of the same size, type, K-
factor and temperature rating, and it must have flow and
pressure requirements compatible with the system hydrau-
lic design. Maintenance must comply with NFPA Standards.

dry location.
• Never attach anything to sprinklers.
• Star Galaxy Sprinklers must be installed using one of the
specially designed sprinkler wrenches.
