supplying termination at the other end of the bus is shut down. By default, the
motherboard is built with the onboard termination Enabled.
5. Installing AIC7896 SCSI Software
To install the AIC7896 SCSI software (drivers), go to the section below for the
operating system installed on your computer (for example, Computers with
Windows 95/98). If the operating system is not yet installed, install it now.
Refer to your operating system documentation for instructions.
NOTE: If you have installed a new SCSI hard drive in a computer running
Windows or DOS, you must partition and format the drive with the DOS
FDISK and FORMAT commands before it can be used. Refer to your
Windows and DOS documentation for instructions.
Computers with Windows 98 Installed
1. Click on the Start Button on the Task bar and Select Settings, Control Panel.
Under the Control Panel, select System, Device Manager, Other Device.
2. Double click the “PCI SCSI bus controller”
3. Click on “Driver” and then “Update Driver” buttons.
4. Click “Next”
5. Select “Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now”
6. Click “Next” and select “Specify a location”
7. At the command prompt, type A:\win9X and click “Next”. Where A: is the
AIC-7896 driver disk provided by Tyan.
8. Windows will copy driver from the floppy disk.
9. Repeat the steps above for the secondary SCSI channel.
10. Reboot the system when prompted.
Computers with Windows 95 Installed
1. Click on the Start Button on the Task bar and Select Settings, Control Panel.
Under the Control Panel, select System, Device Manager, Other Device.
2. Double click the “PCI SCSI bus controller”
3. Click on “Driver” and then “Update Driver” buttons.
4. Click “Next”
5. Select “Yes (Recommended)” and click the “Next” button
