7.1 fundamental terms

Center line of the wheels:

The contact between the tire and the ground forms a line to which the middle line of the wheels

is vertical.

A- Centerline of the wheels

Vehicle Centerline:

The line passing through the center of the front axle and the center of the rear axle.

B- Centerline of the vehicle (or geometric centerline)

Axle thrust line:

7.2 General geometry

7.2.1 Toe

The toe is the value around which a front or rear wheel is facing inboard or outboard at the front,

in relation to each other.

If the wheels point inwards, they are called toe-in, the wheels point outwards, and so on.

Toe-in has positive values; after-trace has negative values, see the following picture.
