Sample Block
Houses flow cell and optical filters. The sample block must be replaced to change the flow cell or filters.
Power Terminal
Strip
Located behind enclosure front panel. Power, AC relay, DC outputs, flow switch, and 4–20 mA chart recorder
connections are made on this strip (see
Figure 7
). Only trained personnel should make electrical connec-
tions.
APPENDIX D: TROUBLESHOOTING
A Quick Reference Guide is installed on the left hand face of the TD1000C™. This guide details all
necessary parameter access details for both calibration and diagnostic needs.
The TD1000C™ utilizes aspects of optics, chemistry, and electronics in its operation; therefore it is
important to collect all diagnostic data first. A troubleshooting worksheet is provided in this appendix to
facilitate data collection. After collecting all data on the worksheet, most problems can be solved over
the phone. Refer to
Section D.2
for the appropriate telephone numbers.
This guide assumes that all problems associated with an alarm have been resolved prior to beginning
troubleshooting. Something as simple as a clogged inlet line can lead to other alarm messages, which
could all be solved at one time simply by clearing the obstruction. The absence of a System Function
Alarm (
F-A
) is persuasive evidence that the electronics of the instrument are functioning properly. In that
case, it is likely that the problem is mechanical, has resulted from another system problem, or from the
operator’s unfamiliarity with the monitor.
After handling all alarms (see
Appendix E)
, the troubleshooting procedure works best in this sequence:
1.
Determine whether or not System Values have been entered correctly (see the Configuration
Record in
Appendix B
and the System Default Values in
Table 4
.
2. Perform Diagnostics procedure as described on the following page.
3. Determine whether or not the process water is behaving as expected. Does the blank read
close to zero on the
HOME
screen and calibration solution read between 5 and 10 on the FS%
diagnostic screen? Check the
CAL DATA
screen (see
Appendix D
) to determine whether the
last calibration seems correct.
4. Complete the Troubleshooting Worksheet.
5. Contact your Turner Designs Hydrocarbon Instruments representative or Turner Designs
Hydrocarbon Instruments at +1 559 253 1414 (see Section D.2).
